Thomas Frederick Barry Pittar; 1880-1948, painter, architect, etcher, poster artist and ceramicist. Known to have lived in  London in 1919 and Dunstable, Bedfordshire c1924. He studied at the Royal College of Art and St John's Wood Art School and was an Associate of the Royal Society of British Artists and a Fellow of the Zoological Society. Barry's artwork  of St Michael's Mount was used by the Great Western Railway as a poster.

He worked at the Doulton Potteries in Lambeth and had a studio in London before moving to the Hogarth Studio in Bushey, Hertfordshire. He established his studio/pottery in the back garden of his house, 'Little Cheverells' in Markyate near St Albans in c1930.

A fine atmospheric etching with drypoint, which has bright and unfaded colouring, with very rich black ink velvet texturing and detail. The image measures approximately 35 cms. x 25 cms. (13¾ x 9¾ ins.) within a strong platemark and impression.

Printed on a medium laid paper sheet size 37 cms. x 28 cms. (14½ x 11 ins.)

Signed in pencil by the artist with the title in the lower margin.

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
