Charles D. Murray
Charles Murray; 1894–1954; Painter and engraver, born Aberdeen and studied at Glasgow School of Art, and Prix de Rome for etching at the British School, Rome. Contemporary of Robert Sargent Austin. Charles spent two years serving with the White Army in Russia 1918–20, and later travelled extensively in Europe, including a visit to Iceland with an archaeological expedition. Died in London.
An excellent etching which is bright, and unfaded with fine detail in black ink. The image printed within a strong platemark and impression on a laid paper sheet approximate size of 28 cms. x 21 cms. (11 x 8½ ins.) with makers watermarks.
Signed and titled in pencil by the artist in the lower margin.
Unmounted and unframed, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
