Artists Proof linocut block engraving
Colin William Moss; 1914-2005, British artist and teacher. Colin was born in Ipswich but studied at the Plymouth Art School and at Royal College of Art, studying under Gilbert Spencer, Charles Mahoney and Percy Horton. Among his contemporaries was Mervyn Levy. During the war, he was a camouflage designer to the Ministry of Home Security, a position he was to hold until active war service took him to the Middle East. He was appointed Senior Lecturer at the Ipswich School of Art . In 1976, Moss was a founder member of ‘Six in Suffolk Group’.
An original print which is bright and unfaded in black ink, with strong impressions. The image printed on a wove paper sheet measuring 28 cms. x 41 cms. (11 x 16 ins.)
Signed and titled in pencil by the artist with the annotation; 'Artists Proof' in the lower margin.
Unframed and unmounted, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks to the margins condusive with age.
