Edgar James Maybery; British, 1887-1966. Painter, watercolourist and etcher. Maybery completed his artistic training at the South Kensington School, London and was recognised for his architectural renderings, both in oils and in original printmaking. During the First World War Edgar served in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers where he spent much of his spare time sketching. Edgar also worked under the pseudonym of A. Simes and worked under several other aliases, probably for contractual reasons.
A very fine etching which has retained its excellent colouring and is bright and unfaded, with superb texture and fine brown ink detail, the image measures approximately 10 cms. x 16 cms. (4 x 6½ ins.) within a fine plate mark and impression.
Printed on a laid paper sheet size 23 cms. x 29 cms, (9 x 11½ ins.) with full margins, deckle edges and makers watermark.
Titled in pencil bottom left and pencil signed by the artist bottom right.
Unmounted and unframed, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and the sheet is very good.
