Fritz Lach; 1868-1933, Austrian painter and graphic artist born in Linz. He was nephew of Andreas Lach and grandnephew Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller. Fritz studied at the Vienna Academy and the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, with Edward Peithner of Lichtenfels and his uncle, Josef Hoffmann.
He worked as an official of the DDSG shipping company in various cities on the Danube - from 1890 he was a port recorder in Orşova, then an official in Semlin (today Belgrade) and in Regensburg. From 1900 Fritz settled as a painter and graphic artist in Vienna. He was a member of the Austrian Association of Artists and the Dürer Federal.
An extremely fine etching which is bright with unfaded colours. The image size measuring approximately 33 cms. x 26 cms. (13 x 10 ins) within a strong plate mark and impression, on a 38 cms x 32 cms. (15 x 12 ins.) paper sheet laid to a backing.
Signed in pencil by the artist with the edition 110/300 in the lower margin.
Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is very good with handling marks condusive with age.
