Geoffrey Heath Wedgwood

Geoffrey Heath Wedgwood; 1900-1977m British etcher and engraver, best known for his architectural etchings. Born in Leek, Staffordshire, Wedgwood studied at the Liverpool Institute and then served with the British Army in the First World War. He also studied at the Liverpool City School of Art and the Royal College of Art, London, studying engraving there under Sir Frank Short and Malcolm Osborne.

A fine original etching which has bright and unfaded colour, with excellent fine detail and black ink intaglio detail, lines and plate tone. The image size measuring approximately 32 cms. x 13 cms. (12¾ x 5 ins.) within a strong platemark and impression on a laid paper sheet size of 36 cms. x 18 cms.( 14 x 7 ins.)

Signed and titled in pencil by the artist in the lower margin.

Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image and sheet is very good with handling marks condusive with age.
