Masaccio: 1401-1428, Italian born Tommaso di Ser Giovanni di Simone, was the first great Italian painter of the Quattrocento period of the Italian Renaissance .Masaccio died at twenty-six and little is known about the exact circumstances of his death.

George Richmond; 1809-1896, was an English painter and portraitist. In his youth he was a member of The Ancients, a group of followers of William Blake. Later in life he established a career as a portrait painter, which included painting the portraits of the British gentry, nobility and royalty.
An engraving which has retained its original colour in black ink, with very fine detail and ink lines, the image printed within a strong platemark and impression on a chine colle applique on an early wove paper sheet measuring approximately 26 cms x 34 cms. (10 x 13¼ ins.)
Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and the sheet is very good with handling marks condusive with age.
