'The White Hart'

'Stopham Bridge'

Fittleworth, West Sussex

original etching

by

Gerald M. Burn.

Gerald Maurice Burn; English; 1862-1945  Born in London and a well listed artist, he is more well known for his paintings, he painted in oils and water colours and his subjects were mainly marine and architectural. He exhibited at the leading London galleries from 1891 including the R.A and R.B.A.

Burns etchings are rare with this being an excellent example with superb unfaded, rich raised intaglio, black ink lines,  fine detailing and plate tone. The image measuring approximately 24 cms. x 18 cms. (9½ x 7 ins.) within a strong platemark and impression on a 32 cms. x 24 cms. (12½ x 9½  ins.) wove paper sheet.

Signed in pencil in the lower margin.

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is excellent.
