Graham Clilverd

Graham Barry Clilverd; 1883-1978. British architectural painter, engraver and etcher, studied in London at the Central Arts School. He first exhibited his art around 1906 and by 1910 his paintings were annually shown at such major institutions as the Royal Academy, the Royal Scottish Academy and at the Paris Salon. During the First World War, Graham Clilverd served as a camouflage artist (1916-1918).

This superb etching with drypoint has retained its colour, bright and unfaded in black ink with excellent detail, plate tone and drypoint burr. The image measuring approximately 25 cms x 18 cms. (10  x 7 ins.) within a strong plate mark and impression.

Printed on a wove paper sheet size 35 cms x 26 cms. (13¾ x 10 ins.)

Signed and titled in pencil by the artist in the lower margin.

Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image and sheet is excellent with handling marks condusive with age.
