Limited edition colour etching
an early print number 52 in an edition of only 300 impressions
Hans Figura; 1877 – 1949, Hans engraved and aquatinted views in almost every major European country and was a regular exhibitor in Paris, London, Vienna, Berlin and New York. The late 1920's marked a highpoint in his art. At this time, Hans Figura maintained studios in both New York and Vienna and created some of his most famous original aquatints and etchings nduring this period.
The three most famous aquatint artists were from Austria; Luigi Kasimir, T. F. Simon and Hans Figura. Each specialized in European and American city views and landscapes.
An extremely fine etching which is bright with unfaded colours as would be expected from an early impression. The image size measuring approximately 29 cms. x 33 cms. (11½ x 13 ins) within a strong plate mark and impression, on a laid paper sheet measuring 41 cms x 51 cms. (16 x 20 ins.) with full margins and deckle edges.
Signed in pencil bottom right, with the edition 52/300 in pencil bottom left.
Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is excellent.
