Henry Clarence Whaite

Henry Clarence Whaite; 1895-1978, was first cousin twice removed of his more famous namesake. Henry was himself a respected artist, a painter, wood-engraver, and authority of mediaeval art and culture, there is a large collection of his work at the Whitworth Gallery in Manchester.

A fine engraving which is bright and unfaded in black ink, the image measuring approximately 12 cms. x 17 cms. (4½  x 7 ins ) printed within a strong platemark and impression on a wove paper sheet measuring 24 cms. x 30 cms. (9½ x 12 ins.)

Signed in pencil beneath the image.

Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
