Herbert Thomas Dicksee; 1862–1942, English painter who specialised in oil paintings of dogs, particularly the deerhound. Prints and etchings of his best-known paintings were widely distributed by publishers such as Klackner of London, and his work is popular among collectors and dog enthusiasts today.
A fine etching, bright and unfaded, with rich sepia ink lines and very fine detail, coloring, shading and plate tone, the image size measuring approximately 42 cms. x 28 cms, (16½ x 11 ins) within a strong impression and platemark on a paper sheet, measuring 51 cms. x 37 cms. (20 x 14½ ins) laid to a backing.
Signed and dated in the image and signed in pencil by the artist in the lower margin.
The sheet also carries a series of artist proof embossed blindstamps to the lower margin.

Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image and sheet is very good, with a toning to a previous mat window, and handling marks condusive with age.
