James Hamilton Mackenzie; 1875 - 1926, Scottish painter, watercolourist and etcher, trained at the Glasgow School of Art under Newberry and with the Haldene Travelling Scholarship he travelled to Italy and studied at the Instituto de Belli Arti in Florence. After WWI, Mackenzie taught etching at Glasgow School of Art, succeeding Susan Crawford.
 A fine etching which is bright, unfaded in black ink, with excellent detail and rich intaglio ink lines and plate tone. The image size measuring approximately 22 cms. x 29 cms. (8½ x 11½ ins.) within a strong platemark and excellent impression, on a laid paper, sheet size 28 cms x 43 cms.( 11 x 17 ins.)

Signed in the image and signed by the artist in pencil in the lower margin.

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is good with a toning to a previous mat window and light wrinkling.
