Jules Hereau; 1839-1879,  painter and etcher, born in Paris, exhibited in 1855 in the Salon and landscapes and marine in the Art Troyons. He exhibited The glaspalast in Munich in 1869 before a forge 'Horses'& 'Fieldwork'. His wife Louise Darru was well known for her paintings.

A fine and rare drypoint etching which is bright and unfaded in black ink with richly inked detail and fine drypoint burr, the image measuring approximately 19 cms. x 15 cms. (x 6 ins.) within a fine but evident platemark and impression.

Printed on a lightweight japon paper sheet, size; 28 cms. x 23 cms (11 x 9 ins.)
 

Signed and dated in the image.

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image is excellent and the sheet good with handling marks condusive with age.
