Sosaku woodblock print
Kiyoshi Saitō (斎藤 清 Saitō Kiyoshi, April 27, 1907 – November 14, 1997, born in Aizubange, Fukushima), was a sōsaku hanga artist in 20th-century Japan. In 1938, he issued his first prints in his now famous 'Winter in Aizu' series. Saito was one of the first Japanese printmaking artists to have won at the São Paulo Biennale in 1951.
A beautifully coloured original woodblock print which is bright with unfaded colors, and strong block impressions, the image printed on a wove paper sheet size; 44 cms. x 29 cms. (17 x 11½ ins )
Hand signed in the image, the sheet also carries the artists redchop seal.
Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image and sheet is very good with an ink bleed through to the reverse sheet.
