Hendrik Dirk Kruseman Van Elten; 1829-1904, Hendrik Dirk Kruseman van Elten 'Kruseman van Elten': Although he was born and raised in Holland and spent his final years in France, Kruseman van Elten came to the United States in 1865 and settled in Ellenville, New York. Influenced by the etchings of the great seventeenth century Dutch masters, Kruseman van Elten was instrumental in introducing the landscape art of Rembrandt, van de Velde, Ruisdael and many others to American artists.
An etching which is bright and unfaded printed in dark brown ink. The image printed within a strong platemark and impression measuring approximately 12 cms. x 13 cms. (8½ x 5 ins) on a full size folio paper sheet size 43 cms. x 31 cms. (17 x 12 ins.) with full margins
Signed and dated in the image.
Unframed, unmounted and blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
