Kurt Meyer-Eberhardt is one of the most famous and revered artists of dogs and cats ever. He was born in 1895 in Leipzig, Germany and died in Munich in 1977. After having studied at the Weimar Academy of Arts, he moved to Munich in 1918.
An excellent original etching which has bright and unfaded colouring, excellent plate toning and drypoint burr, with rich brown intaglio ink lines, the image measuring 23 cms. x 19 cms. (9 x 7½ ins.) within a strong platemark and impression.
Printed on a wove paper sheet size 32 cms. x 27 cms. (12½ x 11 ins.) laid to a backing.
Signed in pencil by the artist below the image, with a 'Franz Hanfstaengl, Munich' embossed blindstamp in the lower image.
The condition of the image and sheet is very good with handling marks condusive with age.
