At the age of 57 he volunteered to fight in the First World War as a commander and was awarded the Croix de Gurre he was killed in the last few months of the war. His artwork is rare and most sought after.
A superb impressionist aquatint etching which has bright and unfaded colours, with excellent fine detail, tone and textures. The image size measuring approximately 32 cms. x 40 cms. (12½ x 16 ins.) within a strong platemark and impression on a laid paper sheet size of 44 cms. x 62 cms. (17½ x 24 ins.) with full margins and makers 'ARCHES' watermark.
Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image is very good and the sheet is fair with an overall age toning, foxing, edge wear to the sheet and handling marks condusive with age.
