Myra Kathleen Hughes A.R.E. c.1885 - 1918, Born in Ireland, the daughter of Sir Frederick Hughes of Rosslare Fort, Wexford. Myra studied at Westminster School of Art and at the Royal College of Art under the tutelage of Sir Frank Short and Constance Pott. Elected an associate of the Royal Society of Painter Etchers and Engravers in 1911, she was also an associate member of The Society of Women Artists.
A rare etching which is bright and unfaded, with excellent black ink intaglio lines, very fine detailing and plate toning, the image size measuring approximately 18 cms. x 28 cms. (7 x 11 ins.) within a strong platemark and impression on a laid paper sheet, size of 22 cms. x 32 cms.( 8½ x 12½ ins.) with makers watermark.
Signed in pencil in the lower margin.
Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is very good.
