Ogata Gekkō; 1859-1920, Japanese painter and woodblock print artist of the ukiyo-e genre. Gekkō's work was originally closely based upon that of Kikuchi Yōsai; and he was inspired by Hokusai, creating a series of one hundred prints of Mount Fuji.
A coloured print which is bright with unfaded colors, with bleed through to the reverse sheet. The image printed on a fine hand made laid paper sheet measuring approximately 25 cms. x 23 cms. (9¾ x 9 ins )
Signed with the artist red ink chop seal in the image.
Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image and the sheet is good with a toning to a previous mat window and handling marks condusive with age.
