Percy W. I. Buckman; 1865-1935, Dorset born British figure painter and landscape painter; etcher. Lived in London and studied at the Royal Academy Schools and was Art Master at Goldsmiths College of Art. Buckman was a diverse artist whose work rarely comes on the open market. He concentrated on painting miniatures in his later life and designed a series of stamps in 1918.
This drypoint etching has retained its excellent colouring, bright and unfaded, with superb detail, plate tone and rich drypoint burr, the image measures approximately 30 cms. x 20 cms. (11¾ x 8 ins.) within a fine but evident platemark and impression.
Printed on a laid paper sheet size 31 cms. x 22 cms. (12¼ x 8½ ins.)
Signed and titled in pencil below the image.
Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is good with toning and handling marks condusive with age.
