Pierre Jean Poitevin; 1889-1933,  French landscape painter and etcher, born on 2 July 1889 in Chatellerault, pupil of Baschet and H. Royer. He exhibited at the Paris Salon and at the society of French Artists, in 1922 he was awarded an honourable mention. He exhibited at the Salon of Independent Artists in 1909. In the 1930 he worked on designs for ‘Paris Vecu’ for Leon Daudet.

A superb etching which is bright and unfaded, in rich dark brown sepia ink, with raised intaglio ink lines, plate tone and detail. The image size measuring approximately 23 cms. x 34 cms. (9  x 13½ ins.) within a strong platemark and impression on a wove paper sheet size 27 cms. x 39 cms. (10½  x 15¼  ins.)

Signed in the image and signed in pencil by the artist beneath the image with the edition 23/150.

Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image is excellent and the sheet good.
