Pieter Westhuizen 1931-.....South African artist born Pretoria. In 1979 he got the opportunity to study at the Nationale Hoger Instituut voor Schone Kunster in Belgium. He studied  in Europe at the Stedelijke Akademie in Ghent and the Ryks Centrum voor Grafiek in Kasterlee, Belgium also travelling to Japan to study wood-block printing. He travelled to Israel and held an exhibition with Marc Chagall, Yaacov Agam and Ben Avram in Madrid in ’88. A Chagallian influence can be seen in some of his work thereafter.

He is regarded as the most popular artist in South Africa today and his works are in private and state collections all over the world.

A fine image which is bright and unfaded with fine detail in black ink, the image printed within a strong platemark and impression on a wove sheet approximate size of 33 cms. x 43 cms. (13 x 17 ins.)

Pencil signed and dated by the artist in the lower margin.
 

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and the sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
