The Spanish Steps (Italian: Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti) are a set of steps in Rome, Italy, climbing a steep slope between the Piazza di Spagna at the base and Piazza Trinità dei Monti, dominated by the Trinità dei Monti church at the top.
Pencil signed limited edition
Richard Beer; painter and printmaker, after studying at the Slade School of Art (1945-50) he travelled widely and was inspired by Italianate architecture. Richard became a teacher of printmaking at Chelsea School of Art and a founder member of the Printmakers Council. His work is in many collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Government Art Collection.
A fine etching which is bright and unfaded in coloured inks, with excellent detail and richly inked intaglio lines, the image printed within a strong platemark and impression measuring approximately 37 cms. x 58 cms. (15 x 23 ins.) on a medium wove paper sheet measuring 51 cms. x 72 cms. (20 x 28 ins.)
Titled and signed by the artist in pencil with the edition 116/150 in the lower margin.
Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image and sheet is very good with handling marks condusive with age.
