Antique etching published 1945, Paris for 'Encore Un Instant de Bonheur' by Henri de Montherlant. Illustrated and etched by Robert Cami.
Robert Cami; 1900-1975 French artist born in Bordeaux, studied at art schools in Bordeaux and Paris, Cami soon made a name for himself as an engraver, receiving the Grand Prix de Rome for his work. From 1932, he also taught the art of engraving at the same art schools he frequented as a student, his work consisted mainly of landscapes, city views and nudes.
This engraving has bright and unfaded, excellent fine detail and black ink lines. The image printed on a wove paper sheet size of 25 cms. x 32 cms. (10 x 13 ins.) with deckled edges and makers watermark.
Unmounted and unframed, blank on the reverse with gallery/ exhibition label, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
