Sven Leonard Erixson

Sven 'X-et' Leonard Erixson; 1899 - 1970, Swedish painter and sculptor. Son of Alfred and Mathilda Eriksson, he was married to Ingeborg Erixson with whom he had two children; a son, the artist Sverre Erixson and a daughter, the actor Irma Erixson. Apprenticed to a master painter at age of 14, he continued his artistic education by studying decorative painting, while he took a position as a teacher of drawing at the Konstfack. This was followed by a year of study at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts, to which he later returned as a Professor of painting 1943–53.

A fine lithograph which is bright and unfaded in coloured inks, the image printed on an artists wove paper sheet measuring approximately 44 cms. x 44 cms. (17 x 17 ins.)

Signed in pencil by the artist with his recognised signature; X-et in the lower margin with the edition 212/360 also in pencil.

Unmounted and unframed, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is good with edge wear and handling marks condusive with age.
