Woodruff Kerr Aykroyd
Woodruff Kerr Aykroyd; Canadian artist, born in Toronto, Ontario, 1904, as an architect, he studied engraving at the Central Technical School, Toronto. Touring Europe just before World War Two, he visited Brittany, France; Surrey, England; harbours of Holland; and Florence, Italy. A member of the Canadian Society of Graphic Art and the Society of Canadian Painters-Etchers & Engravers.
A very fine etching which is bright and unfaded in black ink, with excellent detail and plate toning. The image size measuring approximately 25 cms. x 20 cms. (10 x 8 ins.) within a fine but evident platemark and excellent impression, on a lightweight wove paper sheet size 29 cms x 23 cms.( 11½ x 9 ins.)
Signed and titled in pencil in the lower margin.
Unframed and unmounted, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is very good with handling marks condusive with age.
