Adolf Ferdinand Schinnerer; 15 September 1876, Schwarzenbach an der Saale – 30 January 1949, Ottershausen, part of Haimhausen in Oberbayern. German artist, active in painting, drawing and graphic design. Contemporary of Paul Klee, studied at the University of Munich and at the Kunstakademie in Karlsruhe, under Schmit-Reutte, Trubner and Conz. Professor of Art at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich. Best known for his lithographs of landscape and figure studies. Composed directly upon the stone, these works firmly placed him within the sphere of German Expressionism.
A fine expressionist lithograph in black ink, with bright and unfaded textures, the image size measuring approximately 18 cms. x 18 cms, (7 x 7 ins.) within a very fine but evident platemark and impression on a wove paper sheet, measuring 36 cms. x 25 cms. (14 x 10 ins.)
Signed in the image and signed in pencil by the artist lower right.
Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
