Alfred Hugh Fisher
Alfred Hugh Fisher:1867 - 1945; English etcher, engraver, illustrator and painter. Educated at the University College Schools and studied in Paris, under Laurens and Constant. Concentrating mostly upon original printmaking and illustration, Fisher was appointed as an artist to the Visual Instruction Committee of the Colonial Office.
He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the R.B.A. and with the Royal Engravers. Fisher was elected an Associate of the Royal Engravers and was a member of the Chicago Society of Etchers and the California Print Makers. He lived and worked in both Amberly, Sussex, and Risborough.
This superbly detailed original etching has bright and unfaded colouring and tone, with fine black intaglio black ink lines, the image printed within a strong platemark and impression measuring approximately 27 cms. x 22 cms. (11 x 8½ ins.)
Printed on a wove paper sheet size 33 cms. x 27 cms.(13 x 11 ins.)
Signed in the image and signed and titled by the artist in pencil to the lower margin.
The condition of the image and the sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
