André Bicât; 1909 - 1996, Born in Essex to French and Anglo-Irish parents, painter, printmaker, sculptor and ceramicist. In the 1930s Bicat worked as a set designer for the theatre including a New York production of Murder in the Cathedral by T. S. Eliot, the Windsor Repertory Theatre and the Mercury Theatre. From 1947 to 1985 Andre Bicat lived and worked at Crays Pond, near Reading, and then moved to London. He worked as art tutor at the Royal College of Art .Today the prints and paintings of Andre Bicat can be found at the British Arts Council, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum.
An excellent print with superb unfaded colours, ink lines and textures. The image measuring approximately 38 cms. x 31 cms.(15 x 12 ins.) on a wove paper sheet size 64 cms. x 50 cms.( 25 x 19½ ins.) with full margins and deckle edges.
Hand signed with A/P for artists proof in pencil beneath the image.
Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
