Théophile Alexandre Steinlen; 1859-1923, frequently referred to as just Steinlen; was a Swiss-born French Art Nouveau painter and printmaker. Steinlen, who was outspoken in his socialist and anarchist views, produced many illustrations and lithographs, and was probably better known than Toulouse-Lautrec in his day.
A excellent lithograph in black ink with excellent detail and textures bright and unfaded, the image measures 30 cms. x 21 cms. (11½ x 8½ ins.) on a wove paper sheet size 32 cms. x 25 cms. (12¾ x 9¾ ins.) attached to a backing sheet by its top edge.
Signed in the image.
Unframed and unmounted, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
