George Hughes; Painter active from around 1850 onwards, the artist is noted for Victorian works.
Charles Hunt; 1803-1877, engraver, primarily known as a highly skilled engraver of sporting prints, he worked with George Hunt. His son, Charles Hunt Jr. often worked with him and became a successful painter of contemporary genre, humorous and historical subjects.
This superb engraving is bright and unfaded with excellent tonal qualities and detail in coloured inks. The image measuring approximately 44 cms. x 35 cms. (17 x 13½ ins.) printed within a strong platemark and impression on medium wove paper sheet measuring 51 cms. x 47 cms. (20 x 18 ins.)
Signed by both artists.
Unframed and unmounted, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and the sheet is good, with handling marks condusive with age.
