Charles Frederick William Mielatz; American, 1864-1919 American etcher of architectural subjects. Mielatz was born in Germany but spent most of his career in the United States. During the 1880s, he was active in Newport, Rhode Island. His work is in the collections of The New York Public Library and The Parrish Art Museum.
A finely detailed etching which is bright and unfaded in black ink, the image printed within a fine but evident platemark and impression on a vellum sheet measuring approximately size of 39 cms. by 29 cms. (15 x 11½ ins.) laid to a backing.
Signed and dated in the image and signed in pencil by the artist in the lower margin, with a small remarque etching.
Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image and sheet is fair with a water or paste stain to the upper left corner and handling marks condusive with age.
