Charles Slocombe; 1832-1895; was one of several brothers including Frederick Slocombe who were all reknowned painter/etchers. Anthonis Mor van Dashorst; 1519–1575, Flemish portrait painter, known as Antonio Moro, Antonis Mor or Moor and as Sir Anthony More. Anthonis Mor was a Netherlandish painter, also active in Italy, Portugal England, and Spain, where he served as court painter to the Spanish king Philip II, one of the most powerful rulers in 16th Century Europe. He also painted artists, intellectuals and successful merchants.
Initialled and dated 1880, in the plate by C. P. Slocombe.
This superb print has retained its excellent colouring, bright and unfaded with fine detail in rich brown ink.
Printed on a medium wove paper sheet size 28 cms. x 37 cms. (11 x 14½ ins.)

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is good, there is some ink loss in the area of the sitters beard, not immediately noticible, but mentioned for accuracy, with edge wear and soiling condusive with age, there is paste residue to the reverse side.
