Charles W. Taylor
Charles William Taylor; 1878-1960, wood and copper plate engraver, watercolour painter and teacher. He was born in Wolverhampton where he first studied art and later was accepted at The Royal College of Art, subsequently becoming an associate of the Royal Society of Painters and Etchers where he rose to full membership in 1930. He taught at the School of Art in Southend and lived in Ramuz Drive, Westcliff-on-Sea, eventually retiring to Findon in Sussex.
This fine engraving is bright and unfaded in black ink. The image printed on a japon paper sheet size 28 cms. x 22 cms. (11 x 8½ ins.)
Signed with the artists initials in the image and signed in pencil.
Unframed, unmounted and blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
