Limited edition print number 15 from a small edition of only 50 impressions
Dorothy Hutton, born 1889 in Bolton, died 1984. Calligrapher and painter, Dorothy studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts; Circa 1927. .In the late 1920s she studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts under F Ernest Jackson. She exhibited throughout Britain in the 1930s and 1940s, and on a number of occasions at the Royal Academy. Hutton became renowned for her depiction of flowers. London Transport commissioned a series of seasonal posters to advertise flowers in bloom across the city. Hutton was an official artist to the Crown Office and from 1964 a member of the Art Worker's Guild and designed posters for the Underground Group and London Transport 1922-1954.
A superb print which has retained its excellent colouring, bright and unfaded.
The image measures 32 cms. x 46 cms, (12½ x 18 ins.) printed on a wove paper sheet size 44 cms. x 61 cms, (17½ x 24 ins.) with full margins.
The sheet is signed in the image and in pencil by the artist to bottom right with the edition 18/50.
Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is very good with handling marks condusive with age.
