Edward W. Sharland; Bristol, active, 1911-1928, an English architectural and landscape etcher, Sharland was a full member of the Fine Art Trade Guild. his etchings were exhibited in Liverpool, Bristol and at the Royal West of England Academy and the Royal Academy, London. Sharland's etchings include scenes of cities in France, Italy, Spain, Belgium and Holland as well as views of London, Liverpool, Manchester and Bristol.

Edwards etchings were usually only published in editions of 100 impressions.

This fine etching has retained its excellent colouring, bright and unfaded, with excellent raised intaglio, black ink line detail and plate tone.

The image measures 25 cms. x 14 cms, (10 x 5½ ins.) within a strong platemark and impression on a medium wove paper sheet size 35 cms. x 23 cms. (13½ x 9 ins.)

Signed by the artist in pencil in the lower margin, the sheet also carries a series of embossed blindstamps to the lower margin.

Unframed and unmounted, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is good with a light toning to a previous mat window and handling marks condusive with age.
