Eggert Gudmundsson (Guðmundsson)
Eggert Gudmundsson; 1906-1983, Icelandic painter. Eggert Guðmundsson was born in Stapakot in Innri-Njarðvík, in 1906. He studied art with Stefán Eiríksson, Einar Jónsson, sculptor and Ríkhardur Jónsson, then studied in Germany and in Italy. He then stayed abroad until 1940 then moved home to Iceland. Eggert was a popular painter and held numerous exhibitions both here in Iceland and abroad.
A fine gravure lithograph which has bright and unfaded colouring, an image measuring approximately 13 cms. x 18 cms. (5 x 7 ins.) on a medium wove paper sheet measuring 28 cms. x 37 cms. (11 x 14½ ins.) with full margins.
Signed in the image and by the artist in pencil.
The condition of the image and sheet is very good with handling marks condusive with age.
