Émile Friant; 1863-1932, French artist. Friant was born in the commune of Dieuze. He would later be forced to flee to Nancy by the encroachment of the Kingdom of Prussia's soldiers. He exhibited paintings throughout his lifetime at the Paris Salon. Friant created works in charcoal, oil, and other media. He also used photographs to prepare finished paintings.

A rare and superb original engraving which is bright and unfaded in coloured inks, with fine detail and textures, the image measuring approximately 41 cms. x 53 cms, (16 x 21 ins.) printed on a medium wove paper sheet, measuring 47 cms. x 58 cms, (18¾ x 23 ins.)
Signed and dated by the artist as part of the lower image, the sheet also carries an embossed blindstamp.
Unmounted and unframed, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and the sheet is very good with handling marks condusive with age. Will be shipped rolled.
