Flora M. Reid
Flora Macdonald Reid 1860-1938, Painter and etcher, born in Scotland, tutored in painting by her brother, the painter John R. Reid. Her first works were shown in Edinburgh, when she was 16 years old. She lived for while in Looe, Cornwall, and also worked abroad in France, Norway, and especially in Belgium, during her career she exhibited more than 80 pictures at the Royal Academy.
This finely detailed etching is bright and unfaded in black ink, with fine plate toning and superb textures, the image measuring approximately 18 cms. x 13 cms. (7 x 5 ins ) printed within a strong platemark and impression on a laid paper sheet measuring 29 cms. x 23 cms. (11½ x 9 ins.) with makers watermark.
Signed in the image and signed and titled in pencil in the lower margin.
Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image and sheet is excellent.
