Frank Brangwyn

Sir Frank William Brangwyn; 1867-1956, born Bruges, Belgium, the son of an English father and Welsh mother, in London Brangwyn's father obtained work as a designer of buildings, embroideries and furniture.  His earliest mentors were three of the most influential men in design at the turn of the century: Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo, William Morris and Siegfried Bing. Brangwyn travelled to Kent, Cornwall and Devon, before travelling  to Turkey, South Africa, Spain and Morocco.

This original etching with drypoint has superb raised intaglio ink lines, fine detail in rich black ink and excellent plate toning and ink burr, the image measuring 15 cms x 17 cms.( 6 x 7 ins.) within a strong platemark and impression on a wove paper sheet size 28 cms x 37 cms.(11 x 14¼ ins.)

Annotated in pencil; Etching by Frank Brangwyn R.A. given to me by the artist 1935, Mr B. Walker.

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is very good with light foxing, original fold lines at the margins and handling marks condusive age.
