Frank Harold Round; 1878-1958, born in Tipton to Joseph Round and Jane Beddard (and Frank H. had sister Edith) Little is known about Frank as an artist but it is known that he prepared watercolours for a book on Irises, and for which he is named as a Drawing Master at Charterhouse (an English Public School). He completed the paintings included in 'The Genus Iris'.
Etched with fine plate tone and very fine detail, an atmospheric etching which is bright and unfaded in black ink, with excellent plate tone. The image size measuring approximately 27 cms. x 20 cms. (10¾ x 8 ins.) within a fine but evident platemark and excellent impression, on a medium wove paper, sheet size 30 cms x 22 cms. (11¾ x 8¾ ins.)
Initialled in the image and signed by the artist in pencil signed beneath the image.
Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and the sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
