Frank Paton; 1855–1909, English artist of the Victorian and Edwardian eras, best known for his paintings of animals and scenes of rural life, this being one of his rarer images. He was a successful artist during his lifetime and could even count Queen Victoria as an admirer of his work.
A fine etching which is bright and unfaded, etched with fine lines, detail and plate toning in sepia ink. The image printed within an evident platemark and impression, on a wove paper sheet size 27 cms. x 22 cms. (10½ x 9 ins.) with makers watermark.
Signed in pencil by the artist in the lower margin.
Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is good, with handling marks and soiling condusive with age.
