Frederick Slocombe

Frederick Albert Slocombe; flourished 1886-1920. A London painter of landscapes, coastal scenes and genre, better known for his work as an etcher. His landscapes convey the characteristic charm and serene atmosphere of the English countryside. Exhibited Royal Academy, and was a member R.P.E.

A very fine etching which is bright and unfaded, in dark sepia ink, with excellent rich intaglio ink lines, the image size measuring approximately 17 cms. x 25 cms. (6½ x 9¾ ins.) on a laid paper sheet size of 31 cms. x 26 cms. (12 x 10 ins.) with makers watermark, full margins and deckle edges.

Signed and dated by the artist in the image.

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
