Fritz Rudolf Hug
Fritz Rudolf Hug; 1921-1989, Swiss born in Speicherschwendi, painter, mosaizist, illustrator, expressionist animal artist extraordinaire, he spent part of his childhood in Java and his art studies took him to many different regions of Europe as well as to Africa, while here he worked with Dr. Albert Schweitzer at the Lambarene Hospital in Gabon. From 1967 until his death in 1989, Fritz Hug produced a number of works on behalf of the World Wildlife Fund, showing endangered species of wild animals and birds.
A fine original lithograph which has retained its excellent colouring, bright and unfaded, with superb texture and detail, the image rinted on a laid paper sheet size 49 cms. x 33 cms, (19½ x 13 ins.) with full margins, deckle edges and makers watermark.
Rare, usually his editions are 250 and his work is rarely come onto the market.
Signed in pencil by the artist in the lower the image.
Unmounted and unframed, the condition of the image and the sheet is very good with handling marks condusive with age.
