George Frederick Scotson-Clark
George Frederick Scotson-Clark; 1872-1927. Poster designer and illustrator who was born in Brighton, Sussex the son of Reverend Frederick Scotson-Clark, a noted organ musician and composer. Raised in Brighton, England and was a classmate of Aubrey Beardsley. Worked in the U.S. from 1891-1897 as stage and costume designer, designer of theatrical poste. Art editor of Century Magazine in the 1890's, also designed theater posters for New York newspapers, book posters for Dodd, Mead. Returned to England in 1897 where he contined to pproduce theatrical posters.
A fine original lithograph in coloured inks, the image printed on a wove paper sheet size 19 cms. x 26 cms. (7½ x 10½ ins.)
Signed with the artists initials in the lower image.
Unframed and unmounted, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and the sheet is good with an overall toning and handling marks condusive with age.
