One of a series of 12 prints by George Houston titled 'Burns’ Country'. 12 etchings from a limited edition of 25.

George Houston; 1869-1947, Born in Dalry in Ayrshire, educated at Saltcoats Public School and Glasgow School of Art. Houston specialised in landscapes of Ayrshire and Argyllshire in an impressionist style. He lived most of his life in Dalry painting his native Ayrshire but he also maintained a studio in Glasgow and spent time painting in the Inner Hebrides and around Loch Fyne. Houston became an Associate of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1909 and then an Academician in 1925.

 A very fine etching which is bright and unfaded with fine detail, inking, drypoint burr and plate tone in a black ink. The image printed within a strong plate mark and impression on a wove paper sheet size of 27 cms. x 20 cms. (10¾ x 8 ins.)

Signed by the artist in pencil in the lower margin.

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is good with a light toning to a previous mat window and handling marks condusive with age.
