Gerald A. Meares; 1911-1975, sculptor, woodcarver and painter, born in Woodford, Essex. Gerald changed his career choice in favour of the arts and after the war he trained as a sculptor at the Regent Street Polytechnic under the tutalage of Geoffrey Deeley and then lived for several years in Tenterden as a monumental mason, after moving to Tunbridge Wells, he began painting.

Many of Geralds works are reminiscent of the abstract effects of a stained glass window.

His works were highly regarded by his fellow artists and feature in numerous private and public collections, including that of the Duke of Edinburgh.

Exhibited at the Royal Academy; R.B.A; Young Contemporaries; Glasgow Institute; Royal Portrait Society

A fine lithograph, in brown ink which is bright and unfaded, the image measuring approximately 9 cms. x 14 cms. (3¾ x 5½ ins.)

Printed on a medium wove paper sheet, size; 11 cms. x 16 cms (4½ x 6¼ ins.) 

Hand signed in pencil in the image.

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and the sheet good.
