Otto Ubbelohde; 1867-1922, Expressionist German painter, etcher and illustrator.Ubbelohde was born and grew up in Marburg, his father August Ubbelohde was a professor at University of Marburg Since 1900 he lived in Goßfelden, nowadays a part of the community Lahntal.
This finely detailed etching is bright and unfaded, with excellent green intaglio ink lines, fine detail and plate toning. The image measuring approximately 15 cms. x 18 cms. (6 x 7 ins.) within a strong platemark and impression on an early laid paper sheet size 28 cms. x 37 cms. (11 x 15 ins.)with makers 'Van Gelder' watermark and deckle edges.
This is an original etching not a reprint or copy.
Unframed and unmounted, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and the sheet is good, with toning and handling marks condusive with age.
