Giovanni Locci

Giovanni Locci, painter and etcher, Italian. Pupil of Pietro Annigoni in Florence, in the 1950's and educated at Nerina Simi.

Giovanni is considered a successful interpreter of the Tuscan landscape, but his wanderlust led him to document his work through distant lands, such as Japan, one of his favorite destinations.  Locci, moreover, was one of the painters who has always kept in close contact with nature, being moved in particular by its colors, from its light and its forms, most of  his works were created en plein air.

A rare and original etching bright, and unfaded in black ink, the image measuring 9 cms. x 6 cms. (3½  2¼  x ins.) within a strong evident platemark and impression.

Printed on a wove paper sheet size 25 cms. x 18 cms. (10 x 7 ins.) with deckle edges.

Signed in the image and signed and dated by the artist in pencil beneath the image.

Unmounted and unframed, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive witha age.
